98’ Fender Custom Shop Fred Stuart Telecaster
An incredibly well-built Custom Shop Telecaster from 1998 by renowned builder Fred Stuart. The original Case and Custom Shop Certificate is included in the sale.
Originally a Relic, the guitar has aged very nicely as it approaches it’s 30th birthday with some very tasty crazing and player wear. The Birds Eye Maple Neck with Ebony Fretboard looks incredible! The Swamp Ash body is a serious piece of wood, and the heel of the neck has pencilled 9.5 12-97 indicating a 9.5 radius. The Herringbone binding on both the front and back of the body adds serious class to the guitar.
The guitar was built to Danny Gatton Specs i.e. C Shape Neck, Extra 22nd Fret, Extra Dot with Fred Stuart Hand Wound Pickups.
It appears there was a some type of B Bender installed at some stage which has left 2 screw holes either side of the strap button which have since been professionally filled and finished. There is also a slight mark on the body which just adds character the Relic and Road wear of the guitar. A few parts have also been replaced. A genuine Fender Bridge, Control Plate, Knobs and Pots have been installed along with a Non Genuine Fender Pickguard. We have been able to confirm all of this work was completed by Matts Guitars, a respected Brisbane repairer.
It doesn’t get much better than this for true Tele tone!
