1. Put your best foot forward

Whether you get the job or not can often come down to the basics such as presentation, communication, articulation and enthusiasm. It starts with your application which needs to be tailored to suit the role you’re applying for. Keep it short and sweet, and ensure you present it professionally. Putting your best foot forward is also about being prepared – make sure you are on time and you know your interviewer's full name. Take some time to research the company and have some questions ready. Being enthusiastic and passionate goes a long way. 

2. Answer interview questions like a STAR!

The STAR method will help you structure your response so that your answers paint a clear picture of the situation, actions and the outcome. Keep it brief and answer with energy and enthusiasm.
S - Situation (What was the situation?)
T - Task (What was the task that was required?)
A - Action (What did you do and how did you do it?)
R - Result (What was the outcome or end result?)

3. Ask good questions

This is a big tip! Don't just tell the interviewer how wonderful you are and how good your achievements have been. Demonstrate that you have done your homework and that you’re really listening and you understand what’s going on. You can do this by asking relevant questions about the company and the job in question. Taking an interest in the big picture will have a positive influence on the interviewer whilst providing you with insightful information to determine if this job is right for you too!
